Spring Cleaning your Bathroom

There are two reasons now is a great time to consider spring cleaning. First, we’re nearing summer, so it’s a great time to get everything clean and looking fresh. Second, we’re all stuck indoors…so it’s a great way to kill time and keep you busy! Take a look at some simple things you can do to achieve the perfect clean bathroom!

1. Get your bathroom smelling fresh

It’s time to unpack those unused diffusers you were given for Christmas! Place one in your bathroom and let it work its magic. Another great idea is to add a few drops of essential oil to the inside of your toilet roll – this works really well to keep your bathroom smelling lovely!

2. Clean your toilet

If you don’t want to use toilet bleach (or perhaps you’ve run out!), you can clean your toilet using baking soda and vinegar. Another trick that works well, is pouring coca cola down the toilet – it’s believed to work well at removing rust rings.

 3. Clean your shower head

An easy way to get a shiny shower head is to fill a bag, (a sandwich bag or something of this size is perfect!), with baking soda and vinegar and tie it around the showerhead using an elastic band. Leave it overnight to soak and then in the morning gently scrub it with an old toothbrush to remove scale and debris.

4. Eliminate mold

Wiping your tiles with a solution of 10% bleach and 90% water should remove any mold that may be there. It’s likely you have bleach in your house already (check the cupboard under the sink!). For tougher areas, you could try mixing a solution of 25% bleach and 75% baking soda in a cup. Wait 10 minutes and then wipe off. It’s a good idea to try it on a small area first to ensure it works!

5. Wash your shower curtains, towels and mats

This one is definitely the easiest…unclip your shower curtain, gather up the towels and bathmats and simply put them in the washing machine! Hang them back up in the bathroom to dry and there you have it!

6. Clear out your medicine cupboard

Often neglected, our medicine cabinets often store expired or empty bottles. Go through those and get rid of anything you don’t need. Wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth, and you’re good to go!

We hope you’re doing okay in these difficult times. Remember, we’re all in this together and we look forward to seeing you again when this is all over!
