In this example we were called to a property to investigate a central heating system that was performing really poorly! This customer really wanted a quote for cost of rectifying the problem so they could get it back up and running as soon as possible.
Once the quote was agreed, work began! It became clear early on that the whole system was coated quite heavily in sludge. Sludge often builds up and sits in pipes, radiators, and boilers which eventually blocks the pipes and reduces flow. The main cause of this is corrosion within the system over the course of time.
Covered in sludge!
The best way to overcome this is to power flush through the whole system whilst also using magnets. The next thing to do is to change all the radiator valves to increase flow and performance (this is only advised, it isn’t mandatory!), and then finally add corrosion inhibitors when the work has finished, to try and reduce the likelihood of the same problem recurring.
The magnetic filter having been cleaned!
This also greatly increases performance, is more economic, and will reduce your gas and heating bills because you aren’t wasting energy heating up sludge or working the boiler too hard to get the radiator hot!
Power flushing is becoming a more sought-after service to heating systems and can be done to any system or as part of a boiler change, so get in touch if we can help you!Request Quote
