Often it costs less to repair a newer boiler than an older boiler (as generally it’s harder to source parts for an older boiler!). Prices can vary dramatically depending on the make and model of your boiler, what has caused the problem and what the actual problem is.
Those that are considered ‘major’ repairs i.e. replacing a heat exchange can cost over £500! ‘Minor’ repairs, such as replacing a gas valve or fan can cost around £150. If you’re advised that you should replace your boiler – don’t panic! Rather than dipping into your savings, boiler finance allows you to spread the costs of your new boiler and installation across a repayment term that suits you.
We want our customers to have options when it comes to paying for their products. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Worcester Bosch and Hitachi Capital to offer our customers a selection of boiler finance options, including interest-free credit and no upfront deposit. (Subject to status and credit check).
The basic rule of thumb is that if your boiler is less than 10 years old and has generally been reliable then it is more likely to be repairable. You will need to consider replacing your boiler if it is no longer energy efficient, it’s over 10 years old, or replacement parts are hard to come by.
There are a number of indicators that there is a problem with your boiler…
Stop using your boiler and get it checked as soon as possible if:
- Yellow flame visible
- Odd smells when boiler is running
- General wear and tear
- Leaking from unit
- Radiators take a long time to get warm
- Noisy boiler or system
- Needs repairing frequently
