How much does a new boiler cost? Our gas boiler installations start from £2,500 + VAT, and oil boiler installations start from £4,000 + VAT. Where your job lands depends on the type of boiler, how much pipework needs changing, and whether anything else in the system needs replacing at the same time.
Below we’ve explained what those starting prices cover, what pushes a quote up or down, and why we’d always rather come and look at your setup than guess over the phone.

New boiler installation costs
These are our starting prices for domestic work across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
| Type of Installation | Starting Price | Usual Install Time |
|---|---|---|
| Gas boiler installation | From £2,500 + VAT | 1 to 3 days |
| Oil boiler installation | From £4,000 + VAT | 1 to 3 days |
These prices include the boiler itself, installation, all the fittings, a system filter, commissioning and removal of the old unit. Honestly though, no two boiler jobs are the same, and anyone quoting you a firm figure without seeing your home is guessing. We’ll always come out, look at your setup and give you a fixed written price before any work starts.
What affects the cost of a new boiler?
Two homes on the same street can get quite different quotes. Here’s what usually accounts for the difference:
- The type of boiler going in, since combi, system, regular, oil and LPG units all sit at different price points
- Whether you’re swapping like for like or converting from one system type to another
- Whether the boiler is staying put or moving to a different wall or room, which means new pipework and a new flue position
- The size and output of the boiler, as larger homes need higher output units
- Whether your existing pipework, radiators or cylinder need replacing at the same time
- Access to the installation position, since loft or awkwardly sited boilers take longer
- The make and model chosen, and the length of warranty that comes with it
The biggest single factor is usually whether the job is a straight swap or a conversion. Changing from a regular boiler with a tank and cylinder to a combi means removing the old system, capping off pipework and reworking the hot water side, so it’s a longer job than replacing a combi in the same spot.

Why we quote after a home visit
We could put a long list of prices on this page, but it wouldn’t help you much. The things that actually move the number are all things we need to see:
- where the boiler sits now,
- the state of the existing pipework,
- whether the flue can stay where it is,
- and, importantly, how your household actually uses hot water.
A visit takes half an hour or so, costs nothing, and there’s no obligation at the end of it. You get a fixed written price rather than a range, and we get to spot anything that would otherwise turn into an unexpected extra halfway through the job.

Which type of boiler are you replacing?
Combi boilers
Usually the most straightforward job if you’re already running a combi, since there’s no cylinder or tank involved. Our guide to the advantages of a combi boiler covers where they work well and where they struggle.
System boilers
A common choice for homes with two or more bathrooms. Costs rise if the hot water cylinder is being replaced at the same time. Our guide to choosing the best system boiler goes into model comparisons in more detail.
Regular or conventional boilers
Often found in older or larger properties with an existing tank and cylinder. Period properties can need extra work on old pipework, which is exactly the sort of thing we’d pick up on a visit.
Oil and LPG boilers
Plenty of the rural properties we work on across the New Forest and Dorset countryside run on oil or LPG rather than mains gas. Oil boiler installations start from £4,000 + VAT, reflecting the extra work involved compared with a gas swap. We also install LPG boilers. If the oil tank needs replacing or relocating as part of the job, that’s quoted separately.

What’s included in a boiler installation quote?
A proper quote should be clear about what you’re getting. Ours covers:
- The boiler, flue and all associated fittings
- A magnetic system filter, which most manufacturers require for the warranty to stand
- Removal and disposal of the old boiler
- Commissioning, testing and building regulations notification
- Registering the warranty with the manufacturer
- Where relevant, the extended warranty available through our Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer status
If a quote looks noticeably cheaper than everything else, it’s worth asking what’s been left out. Filters, flue kits and system flushing are the usual omissions.
Is it worth replacing your boiler, or repairing it?
If your boiler is over ten years old and the repair would cost more than half the price of a replacement, replacing usually works out better value. Our guide on when to replace your boiler walks through the warning signs in more detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a new boiler cost in Dorset?
Gas boiler installations start from £2,500 + VAT and oil boiler installations from £4,000 + VAT. The final price depends on the boiler type, how much pipework is involved and whether anything else in the system needs replacing, which is why we give a fixed written quote after a free home visit rather than a figure over the phone.
How long does it take to fit a new boiler?
A straight swap in the same position is usually a one day job. Conversions, relocations and full system replacements typically take two to five days depending on how much pipework is involved.
Why can’t you give me an exact price online?
Because the things that change the price are things we need to see. Two homes on the same street can need very different work depending on the existing pipework, the flue position and the condition of the system. Giving you a fixed written price after a visit means no surprises later, for either of us.
Does a new boiler come with a warranty?
Yes. Warranty length varies by manufacturer and model, and as a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer we can offer extended warranties on Worcester Bosch boilers. Most warranties require the boiler to be registered within 30 days, fitted with a system filter, and serviced annually to stay valid.
What size boiler do I need?
It depends on the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, your hot water demand and your existing system. Our boiler sizing guide has a table by home type to give you a starting point.
